After working this out I came up with the answer 1/15.

Question 2:
Show your working and answers here:
2a: 2 dollars because the children might get 1 blue and 1 yellow then they can just swap.

2b:3 dollars because then they can get three and then they will get a higher chance of getting the colour they want

2c: 6 dollars then because then they will get two each.

Question 3:

Show your working and answer here: for the second question it is 3+ 100 and that equals 300 so the answer is 300
For the first one I think the answer is 16 because for each tile you will need to times it by four.

What is you next step? My next step is to find out multiple ways to answer a question.

Finally, add the screenshots from the 3 IXL activities you did here:

Current Events Term 1

Current Events Term 1

In Current Events I covered these topics:
  • The design of the Halswell Skate Park and I made a submission to the council.
  • Donald Trump’s Refugee Plan
  • Christchurch Earth Memorial
  • The new Ngā Puna Wai Sports Facility
  • The Red Zone and Avon River Regeneration Plan with a submission to the council.

My favorite topic was The Red Zone and Avon River Regeneration Plan with a submission to the council because I found it very interesting, the submission was a very good part to add because instead of just making us have to do a describe ++ map Mr Ladbrook also help us contribute to the community.

Here is a link to my learning on the Red Zone and Avon River Regeneration Plan.

The Reading National Standards I have achieved are
  • Year 7 and 8
    • Identifying and resolving issues that come from competing information in texts
gathering, evaluating, and synthesising information across a small range of texts
    • I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

This afternoon I was talking to my mum and dad, I was telling them about this home learning challenge and they said "why don't you organize a trip to Wellington. So to take action I looked at the dates that we could go and decided on the 3/4 of June, I booked accommodation at a hotel by ringing them and organizing it. Something else I had to do was ring my auntie and uncle and ask them if they were free on those days they said yes, so I planed that we would go and spend some of the time with them. When I had finished speaking to them I told myself that I was showing active thinking by doing good thing by cheeking with them.  I also showed the leadership trait of Active thinker because I had to work out what I needed to do.

Today I had band practice. When I arrived there I found out that instead of doing band practice Mrs Trotter had asked as to  introduce our self's at the end of term assembly. Then Mr Rule told us that we were going to make up a little routine to make a video so Ashley and I decided to say " hi my names Ashley and hi my names Maddy and we are in the Oaklands school band" then we were going to jump of the stage. After this Mr Rule  told us that we were then going to do a big group video so we did. After that Mr Rule told us that we could go, while coming back I was thinking about how much leadership I was showing by joining the school band. The care value that I showed was Community because I was contributing to the school.  I also showed the leadership trait of resilient's because when I got stuck I didn't give up and I also had to problem solve which is active thinker.

Term 1 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel Dragon Keeper

I found this novel Interesting because I learnt about Ancient China and what it was like to be a slave, I also found alot new knowledge about the Han dynasty.

During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows I how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.

National Standard this covers
  • Year 7/8  Standard
    • using several pieces of information to make inferences
using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes
    • I can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words.

Today I had PALS but again I couldn't do it because of the weather. Instead of doing PALS today I volunteered to be a wet day monitor in room 15. When lunch time came it was time for me to go to my class, the other wet day monitors in my class were Charlotte L, Emily and Dabok. After we had gone into their class we saw some boys play fighting so we tried to get them to stop but we couldn't , so we got a teacher. Then we decided to start a coloring in game, two people joined the game but it was still fun to play. After our coloring in game I read to some of the children, quite a few people stopped and listened. When we had ten minutes till the bell rung we told them to pack up it didn't go so well but eventually they calmed down. After we had left the class I thought that I showed the community value by volunteering to be a wet day monitor.  I also showed the leadership trait of resilient's because when I got stuck I didn't give up, it was really hard to be a wet day monitor as the children didn't listen.

Today I wanted to do a home learning challenge so to achieve this I started to cook some spaghetti bolognaise.  The country this dish comes from is Italy.  The first thing I needed to do was to put some water into a pot and turn it on so that it would boil.  While it was boiling I cooked a packet of mince.  when the mince was all browned I added a jar of dolmio sauce to it.  I put some garlic bread in the oven to cook as well.  Once the pasta was soft and mum said it was cooked I drained it like mum told me to.  Then I put some pasta on everyone's plates and put the mince on top.  I took the garlic bread out of the oven when it was done and put it all on the table for everyone to eat.  It tasted really good and everyone enjoyed it.  After this I thought that I showed respect by cooking up another cultures food.  I also showed the leadership trait of resilient's because when I got stuck I didn't give up.

Today I had band practice, When lunch time came Ashley and I went over to the hall The first thing we did was go into the radio room to get the music stands. Then we put our stand out with chairs then we got our guitars out and started to tune our guitars, while we were tuning Mr Rule walked in. Then when everyone was ready Mr Rule told us that we could do two songs so we chose Hey Jude and Can't stop the feeling. Mr Rule gave us the Music for Can't stop the feeling, Ashley and I didn't know one of the cords so we looked at our cord chart and we found out what that cord was. Today I thought that I showed Active Thinking by problem solving when things got tough.  I also showed the leadership trait of resilient's because when I got stuck I didn't give up.
